
Banking Law and Management is a comprehensive course designed to equip learners with in-depth knowledge of the legal and managerial frameworks governing modern banking institutions. The course integrates core principles of banking law with practical management strategies required for effective administration of financial institutions.
On the legal dimension, the course examines the regulatory environment of banking operations, including the banker–customer relationship, negotiable instruments, lending and securities law, consumer protection, anti–money laundering compliance, and financial regulations enforced by authorities such as the Central Bank of Kenya. Emphasis is placed on understanding legal obligations, ethical standards, and compliance requirements that ensure stability and accountability within the financial sector.
On the management dimension, the course explores strategic planning, credit and risk management, financial performance analysis, corporate governance, internal controls, leadership, and decision-making processes within banking institutions. Learners develop practical competencies in managing banking operations efficiently while maintaining regulatory compliance and institutional sustainability.
By the end of the course, students are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate effectively in commercial banks, microfinance institutions, SACCOs, and other financial organizations, contributing to sound financial management and responsible banking practices.
